Thinking about building a strong hold, what we need/want. What would be awesome? Also this would be an awesome place to talk about what you want to buy for your charters. Or to ask me about non-core feats & such

well we have to start with surrounding defenses if we just go straight to building a fort or castle something bad could easily happen if we build a wall around where said castle would be and start with the cheaper more cost efficient defenses then our investments will be more safe.

loneshadow: Assuming the wall is already built (since that's what we'd already talked about), what needs to go in the stronghold itself? And it doesn't have to be a traditional castle. The SBGB can be used to build a small house. I did it in an earlier campaign. I think the city wall will not be something we're having to pay for, since we can legislate that the city must build a wall around our land holdings. Besides which, we were thinking about building on a moving foundation, so we might not want to be inside the city limits... Just a thought. Here's what I think needs to be in the stronghold: Bedroom Suites or Bedrooms, Servant Quarters, a Kitchen, a Dining Hall, a Magic Lab, and a Fancy Bath. One or two extra bedrooms with the beds enchanted to promote healing of various ailments. If a more castle-like stronghold is desired, add walls, gate, barbican, etc.

well as for stronghold Ideas I think I would prefer to have a green house and a "pet" area. another good Idea is that the stronghold could appear as a small house or abandoned shack but in reality be enormous having more rooms then one would ever need. as for general things in this fortress I suggest a library, a general lab which will be divided into multiple smaller labs, an observatory, a training grounds (both for animals and employee's), an armory, a private bathhouse, a sauna, possibly a hot spring, a music room (for the bard should he show up), 2-3 meeting rooms, a dungeon, and last but not least a working sewage system. another fun Idea is to let each party member have there own private quarters (designed entirely by them) which only they would be able to access it would make many things so much easier for everyone that way should you like more Idea's I may be able to think up something

Sounds good. What about the other party members? Any preferences? I think we'll put all of these ideas in a list, rank them by how many of us want each thing, and buidl them in that order or use that priority to determine what all goes in.

I need to either pick up my brother at 4 or move the game to the north west side of town... any suggestions? Burger King? The room is noisier, and I don't think they have any large tables, but it's the farthest north/west I can think of. (Any answers to my PMs?)

there is the Mac Donald's by the pick and save next to waffle house and not far from burger king it is a rather nice location with some out of the way side tables they are reasonably large and should do nicely for the task at hand.

Yes, but their food is not as good. I'll come to wherever the game is, within reason (e.g., within the city limits). I didn't see the part about OOC discussions before I posted earlier and sent my PMs. Do I need to ask those questions in this thread?

I like Mc Donnald's more then BK. What is OOC? I suck at TLA's.
So we will meet at the north Mc Donald's at 2-3 this Friday.

Out of Character (as opposed to our session log, which is fairly firmly in-character (or IC).)
What time this Friday? I'll assume 3, if I don't hear otherwise. Noob has my number, if you're all ready to start long before then.

Here are my current calculations about what we can do with the loot we currently have: After dibs valued 23,330 for Kira, 2,500 for Sengir, 0 for Arthur, 5,344 for Zoe, and 1,025 for Graham, the party has 116,610gp to spend on outfitting for the next journey. If what happened at the end of the last session is canon, most of Graham's 1,025 in loot is about to go up in smoke very quickly. Anyway, we can buy: Headband/INT+4 for Graham, 16000 Headband/WIS+4 for Kira, 16000 Bracers/Armor+5 for Zoe, 25000 Belt/SoF for Graham, 8000 Cloak/Shielding for Graham, 12000 Barrel, empty + water, for Kira, 2 Total for spending: 77,002, leaving 39,608gp to split between the two party members who really got the shaft on looting (18,554gp for Sengir and 21,054gp for Arthur). After this plan is adopted, the percentage of 1/5 loot share are as follows: Kira: 132.2% Graham: 124.4% Zoe: 102.0% Sengir: 70.7% Arthur: 70.7% [Edited to fix spreadsheet errors] I'll bring the spreadsheet tomorrow so you can all see how I arrived at my numbers.

This week's topics: Country name (to be what the country's name was already, so probably no puns or jokes about the party in the name) Country Flag (Our new design, up to three entries) More stronghold ingredients

Flag: Come up with a insignia or design, Mine would probably be a bat or a dragon, then incorporate them all into the flag. Have the Bat, Dragon, Wolf, Eagle, Elf/whatever other emblem you can come up with then put them all together. It will represent the diversity and equality of our country. We already have humans, orcs, kobolds, elves, and dwarfs living in our area or soon to be annexed or allies with us. A kind of representation of what we stand for.
Stronghold: Sengir of course would prefer the typical Castle Ravenloft/Castlevania/vampire hideout. No windows, mirrors, silverware, etc. For in character reasons to not draw attention to himself, a bat of course dislikes sunlight, Mirrors/silverware, I am a bat, real no reason to care about vanity or eating utensils. I would probably put in a small ventilation shaft in the basement that only myself could fit through and place my coffin in there. I don't need to sleep and there is no rule saying vampires need a coffin but I feel it appropriate for mechanical reasons that I should have a resting place to recover if I ever drop to below 0 hp. Needs a bard capable of playing an organ and knows the song "Bloody Tears" by heart. Could be our national anthem ;P
Verkclaw: I guess the added goal of having children could be added to his list after he finishes his revenge. His children will be dragons of course. He doesn't hate dragons, just the ones that did the thing to him and magic in general. If the castle is magical, he would probably go off and live somewhere else but highly doubt we can afford a magical castle anytime soon so no problem.
Ideas about town: Need to work on infrastructure. Sewage, agriculture, government, economy etc. before we work on a stronghold. Once we get money going, can use peasants to build castle and allow them in under siege. Note: Items such as create food, water, air, at will = key here. If we are ever under siege, us and our peasants can survive indefinitely inside. Use magic whenever possible. Saves so much time and money. Slowly, we need hired help to start expanding the wall, a few feet at a time each day or build another layer of wall. It might not tactically be easy to defend but it will keep random forest critters from finding their way in. Also, advertising our country probably isn't the best thing to do. We might make a few allies but we'll make just as many enemies who will probably attack us if see our land is better than theirs. We have no way of defending ourselves really. Best to build up first then show off the greatness of our country. eg; standard of living, military strength, etc.
As for government and economy structure... Free enterprise, Democratic and Fascist. People for for the person in charge who makes the decisions with advice from his nominated committee. Elections can come up occasionally.

Noob: Flags with complex figures are very rare in the world, because they're difficult to replicate. I think a simpler, more symbolic flag is better. Here's my first entry: Candidate Skr1 White for the light of truth (thiefcatchers, etc.). Red for the blood of our enemies. Gold for loot. Three black stars for the three roads out of Triplepoint (and for the memory of the blight on our fair land). Regarding democracy: Why? These people will have no predilection to desire elected officials, and democracy is a terrible form of government. Now, if you want to set up a republic, where the rule of law is preeminent, that's fine, but do you really want to set up a system of government where all the GM has to do is say we lost the election to get rid of us and all our power? I'd like to have this country thing to explore the things we can do. If you're not interested in civil power, you don't have to be a ruler, but don't set us up for failure that way. We can be enlightened rulers and protect our people without giving them the power to easily overthrow us.
