I will be running "Dead In The Eye", the free 4th edition adventure for free RPG day on June 16th.
Adventure synopsis
A terrible creature has laid waste to the country side. Dazed survivors describe it as a bloated orb writhing with tentacles that spew destructive baleful energies in all directions. Now, a brave group of soldiers has the beast trapped in a small cave system with no way out. But despite their numbers, the creature and its minions have weakened the group. Desperate for aid, an out of breath messenger has found your group. He begs for your aid, fearing that without assistance the beast will escape and more innocents will die painful and needless deaths.
Pregen Characters Available:
Vondal - This dwarven cleric lost everything as a child when her ancestral home was destroyed by horrors from the underdark. She serves her goddess Chauntea (Goddess of Hope, the Earth, and Life) as one of the Knights of Eternal Well, dispensing in her travels aid to those who need it most.
Vondal is good for players who like to both smash face in melee while also helping their allies survive the most dangerous fights.
Sha-Karn - Born during a raging storm in the middle of a disastrous siege, Sha-Karn, the genasi (elemental born) paladin was chosen by Kord to wage honorable war. He strikes with unnatural speed, drawing his massive sword with one fluid motion even as he charges into battle. Claimed by Jrod
Sha-Karn is good for those who like to strike first and then get in the thick of combat to help defend their allies from enemy attacks.
Adran - His childhood was spent wandering from place to place with his family, and as an adventurer this young half elf sorcerer hasn't stopped his search. A search for answers. With practiced ease he calls down lighting upon his foes, even as he searches for more of his extended familly - the Tuathans, descendents from human shapeshifters who once ruled a vast kingdom in the fairy realms.
Adran is good for players who like to attack from range, dealing massive damage safe from enemy swords. He does have some tricks for enemies who dare to get close though. Adran has been claimed by Lee
Chaedi - Dragged screaming into the underdark as a child, this wood elf ranger was rescued by a group of adventurers from a life of slavery to a cabal of mind flayers. Orphaned, and estranged from her wood elf kin, she learned her skills from the human ranger who had saved her life. She parries and spins and strikes again and again, almost untouchable in melee.
Chaedi is a stealthy melee fighter who can land multiple attacks onto an enemy in one turn, whittling down their hit points one swift attack at a time.
Paela - Halflings like to wander, and Paela is no different. She was lured into the feywild at a young age where she learned the art of the hunt. Now, bow in hand, she has sworn a vow to hunt down the monsters that would ravage the natural world. Aberrants, demons, and worse. With a shriek and a clap of thunder, her enemies are deafened by her attacks even while finding themselves unable to advance.
Paela is another ranged character, but less focused on doing damage and more focused on hindering her enemies movement by slowing them or knocking them down, keeping them away from her and in range of her friends close combat attacks.
Pieter - This massive human was once one of the most promising wizards at the arcane academy until he attempted a ritual beyond his skills. The magical backlash laid him in a near death state for weeks. When he awoke, he had no knowledge of magic and no skill in the Art (nor the wit to learn it). Frustrated, he took up the axe and hasn't bothered looking back. Now, his power comes from the steel in his hand, and his art is the destruction of his foes. Money flows freely from the coffers of those who need enemies sliced in twain, and adventuring gives him everything he wants. Power, wealth, and a chance to work out his frustrations.
Pieter is a brute, wielding a massive axe he executes his enemies without remorse. Good for players who just want the satisfaction of hacking monsters to bits.
